It is time to begin planning for the 2022 season of the North Houston Retired Senior Men’s Golf Association, more commonly known as Senior Interclub. The Association comprises 13 golf clubs in the north Houston area and is organized for the purpose of promoting social and competitive golf amongst the member clubs.
The 13 clubs are: Atascocita, April Sound, Bentwater, Elkins Lake, Lake Windcrest, Hearthstone, Kingwood Lakes, Kingwood Marsh, Northgate, Panorama, River Plantation, Walden Lake Conroe, and Walden Lake Houston.
The season runs from February 21 – October 10, 2022, with an eight-week break in July and August to keep us old guys out of the heat. We play each club on a home and away basis for a total of 26 matches during the season. I’ll send out the schedule when it is finalized.
The competition format is two-man, best-ball match play. Three points are awarded for each match, one point to the front nine winner, one point to the back nine winner, one point to the overall 18-hole winner. We field 10 two-man teams each week (20 players).
The cost to play is cart fee only (usually $20-$25) at the away matches. We also run a best ball competition amongst our team ($5 per man entry) each week that pays $50 first place. $30 second place, $20 third place, with the prize money deposited to your credit book with the club.
Participation Requirements:
- You must be 50 years of age or older at the start of the season. Despite the Association name, you need not be retired but must have retired at some time in the past.
- You must have a valid USGA handicap.
- You must be available to play at 9am on Thursday mornings. Note: You are NOT committing to play every match.
- You enjoy competition and playing at other clubs.
Each year we order team shirts and hats. The cost of these items will be billed to your club account.
There will be a one time $20.00 entry fee for the 2022 season since we are a new club and do not yet have the funds to cover expenses. The 2023 season will be covered by the MGA.
I will be Captain for 201922 and Robert Shaw will be co-Captain.
