Approval of Minutes
Minutes from the February Board meeting were approved.
Treasury Report
Robert Shaw provided the following updates:
- A bank account has been opened with an initial deposit of $500. Two board members have signed the card at the bank and the third will sign tomorrow.
- An initial budget for 2022 has been created with estimated income and expenses.
- No new expenses were incurred over the last month.
- Robert walked the board members through the financial results from the first tournament (held in February). Initially there was a $10 discrepancy between the LWMGA and Club related to the prize money allocated for the flight winners. After a review, the discrepancy was resolved.
- A separate account has been created to handle the money that will be used to partially pay for the MGA cup to be held in March 2023.
- Only one proximity prize was paid for in the February 2-man scramble tournament. As a result, a motion was made to take the remaining $60 and roll it into the proximity prize for the next tournament, making the total amount $140. The motion was seconded and unanimously approved.

Topic | Discussion |
MGA in April | The cutoff for entry into the MGA tournament will be Wednesday 6th at 5pm.The tournament will be held on Saturday April 9th.Brett will set up the Tournament sign-up link. |
Open Date in July | Currently there is an open date in July that could host a LWMGA tournament. It was suggested that: The LWMGA will use the July date as a qualifying event (as a single stableford tournament)The top 32 or 64 finishers (depending on the number of entrants) will then participate in a bracketed match play tournament that will be played over a number of weeks |
Tournament Cards | The tournament cards have been ordered |
MGA Points and Point Breakdown | It was brought to the attention of the board that the point distribution between the two flights at the first tournament was not equitable given that one flight had 2 first place awards (first gross, first net) and the other flight had 1 first, 1 second and 1 third place award. Given that bonus MGA points are awarded equivalent to the prize money earned, this resulted in an unequitable point award between the flights. To resolve the issue and make the point award equitable, on a go-forward basis, all flights will have the same prize awards: 1st Gross1st Net2nd Net |
Tournament Cards | For the format of the cards, only the LWMGA events will be put on the cards. July will be listed as an open date, with more information to follow as we get closer to the date. Additionally, the name, email and phone numbers of the board members will be put on the cards. |
Poker Chips | The LWMGA Poker Chips will be ordered when the Debit card is obtained. |
Board Shirts & Caps | The LWMGA Board Caps have arrived. Shirts are in process. |
Senior Interclub | Brett will order the shirts for the Senior Interclub members. |
Board Photo | The photo will be taken when the board shirts have arrived. |
Web Site | WWW.LWMGA.com is up and running. Bob will post the point standings this month. |
Bylaws | The by-laws will need to be updated to specify that no refunds will be made for MGA participation after January 31st of the respective year. This change to the by-laws will require an MGA member vote and will be presented at the general meeting. |
Bill Wenning | Bill Wenning, the Lake Windcrest teaching professional, has offered to conduct mini lessons for LWMGA members. Bob will contact Bill and confirm our interest in proceeding. |
Handicap Committee | The LWMGA board and Brett Williams will be the handicap committee for 2022. |
Range Fee | With the introduction of the range fee at Lake Windcrest Brett confirmed: New balls are available and old balls will be culled. There is currently a shortage of range balls to purchaseBrett will ask about creating new, consistent targets on the range. |
Member / Member tournament | The member / member tournament scheduled for April was discussed: The flyer was reviewed. There will be a Calcutta on Friday night, with an appetizer bar for participantsSaturday will have pulled pork and sausage sandwiches Brett will look at the handicap percent ratios (using USGA as guidance) |
